Georgia
Of the 8% of Veterans that make up Georgia's population, an estimated 712 Georgia Vets are left unhomed. Although these numbers are not as drastic as Florida or California, only 80% of these unhomed vets qualify for supportive services. Of the 80%, only 32% gain access to these services. Elite Valor is a non-profit organization trying to help our fellow Vets get back on their feet! As we have begun our journey fighting for our veterans, we are happy to announce that we have expanded to Orlando, and Texas. Texas
On any given day as of January 2019, Texas has experienced 25,848 homeless families, 28% being our honorable Vets. About 45% of homeless Veterans suffer from mental illness and, with considerable overlap, slightly more than 70% suffer from alcohol and/or other drug abuse problems. Orlando
Florida had the highest overall homeless population rate as of 2018, ranking No. 3 after California and New York. In 2011 an estimated total of 5,644 Veterans were reported in the state of Florida alone. Since then homeless Veterans among Florida have been cur drastically in half! As of 2020, Florida's Council has reported a significant change of an estimated 2,543 homeless Veterans. As we work together each and everyday to support our fellow Vets, we know more can be done!
